The Red Lion Inn in Stockbridge Massachusetts is a charming old New England inn. The lobby is so cozy - with a roaring fire to warm travelers -- and the gift shop is like a jewel box with sunny windows displaying all of the lovely gifts.

Spring Decorations

Since the real flowers are not blooming yet - I had to get out some 'faux' flowers for my spring (Easter) decorations.

Flags

 Colorful red, white and blue flags flutter in the sunshine -- at the French Consulate on Fifth Avenue -- on a gorgeous late March day.

Blue Blanket

Sugar Plum is taking a cozy nap on her blue blanket.  A nice way to spend a chilly spring afternoon.

Waverly Place

I love walking around the beautiful streets of Greenwich Village in New York -- though it is so easy to get lost.

A Portrait

As I was walking along 10th Avenue - I looked down at the sidewalk and noticed this amazing portrait that someone apparently made by drizzling paint -- how talented!

Basquiat

I saw the incredible Jean-Michel Basquiat exhibit at the Gagosian Gallery today.  Unfortunately cameras were not allowed - so I didn't get any photographs.  As I left the gallery - this truck was parked on West 24th Street -- I was reminded that Basquiat started his career as a graffiti artist.

Blue Skies

Bright blue skies and a beautiful sunny day -- but still too cold.  Is this really spring?

Spring flowers are trying to push through the snow and start to grow -- the weather is just not cooperating.

Spring Is Here!!

The calendar says that today is the first day of spring - so I decided to go out a take a nice walk!  While I had a beautiful walk at the Poses-Newman Reserve -- somehow it didn't look like a spring day.

A nice little corner of Manhattan -- Irving Place and East 19th Street.  Now if only it would warm up a little -- and going for a nice stroll would be so much more pleasant!

All of the rain and snow melt recently has caused the river to rise -- as the waters of March flow under the ancient bridge.

A Spot Of Spring

The weather turned very brisk today -- though I did manage to find a sign of spring.  A lone crocus in the sunshine.

Waves

The waves were rolling in at the entrance to Southport Harbor today.  A spring-like day at this time of year always stirs up memories of the warm days we know are coming.

Winter Harbor

The 'Gloria' oyster boat sits in Gray's Creek for the winter - awaiting warmer days.  Spring is just over a week away at this point --- I can't wait!

Going Up

Many of the houses along the shoreline of Long Island Sound are being raised to prevent flooding from future storms.  This, however, seems a bit much!

A Change In The Weather

One day we're having a blizzard and the next day it's fifty five degrees, sunny and beautiful.  While I love the snow - I much prefer today's spring-like weather!

Oh No!

The snow that was left over from one month ago had pretty much melted -- but this morning we woke up to this!  A fresh coating of snow --- and a snow day!

General Sherman

I have often wondered who was depicted on this beautiful statue at the entrance to Central Park near The Plaza Hotel.  So I did a little research -- it is General William Sherman (a Civil War General) with the 'figure of peace' leading the way.

Taking A Stroll

It was a beautiful day to take a stroll down 5th Avenue -- with warm temperatures and sunny skies.  Stormy weather is predicted for later in the week - I hope they're wrong.

Keep Off

These geese were obviously not paying any attention to the sign --- and were walking wherever they pleased!

Symbolic

A symbol suitable for Sunday lies in rubble left from Hurricane Sandy near Longshore Marina.

Saturday Afternoon

Just a quiet Saturday afternoon -- hanging around the backyard.  While some people have left for adventures in warmer climates -- others have to stay and wait out the winter. 

The Theme Is.........

I would say the overall theme for this week is GRAY -- everything seems to be gray --  the sky, the water......  Now that March is here I would like to see more sunshine and maybe a little green!
