The Black Keys

The Black Keys were the highlight of the Global Festival in Central Park last night - a great experience!

The Global Festival on the Great Lawn in Central Park was an incredible concert !!  Some of the performers were The Black Keys, Neil Young, and The Foo Fighters - 60,000 fans filled the Great Lawn on a beautiful evening and enjoyed the music (which at a few points was quite raucous).

Rainy Day

It rained and rained all day today - hopefully the sun will come out tomorrow!

Manhattan Moon

The moon is making a showing just before sunset on a gorgeous September evening in Manhattan.

The China Shop

A beautiful spot to go window shopping on Madison Avenue - a lovely shop filled with exquisite antique china - my favorite!

The Avett Brothers

The Avett Brothers gave a great performance at Central Park's Summerstage on September 24th.  The concert was rescheduled after a rain-out

on September 18th.  A beautiful evening and a great concert!

The Feather

Marsh Grass

The marsh grass at Southport Beach is starting to take on a golden hue now that autumn is here.  The late afternoon sun glistens on the waters of the incoming tide.

The first day of autumn was a little cloudy - but everyone was out and enjoying the day.

Summer

The last day of Summer 2012 - a beautiful day to end a great summer season.  Though - I'm still looking forward to some wonderful weather for at least the next month!

Farmer's Market Haul

I got some wonderful farm fresh produce at the Thursday Farmer's Market. They say that zucchini is finished for the season and tomatoes are almost done ---

oh no!  Fall starts on Saturday.

Late Summer Sail

It was a lovely day to be at the shore - doing anything - sailing, kayaking, walking or just sitting on the beach reading.

Rain Delay

Well - I was supposed to go to a concert at Rumsey Playfield in Central Park today - it was postponed due to severe weather.  I guess that means indoor activities today - how about a little browsing at Terrain.

Up and Away!

We have had a long string of beautiful days recently - including today - it looks as if we're in for a rainy day tomorrow.  It's too bad - there's a special outdoor event going on tomorrow - we'll have to see.............

Clouds

The clouds were amazing today - another sunny, beautiful day - but it seems that the cooler autumn air is slowly moving in.

Rock Garden

I always admire this rock garden whenever I take a walk in Bell Island - it looks stunning in every season.  The color scheme for late summer seems to be

blue and white.

What A View

Kitty Grass

Sugar Plum's birthday was last week - one of her gifts was a little kit of

 quick-growing 'cat grass'. It grew incredibly fast - but I don't think she has nibbled on any of it yet!

Surfboards

A group of surfboards lay waiting in a driveway in Bell Island today - perhaps waiting for the owners to come home from school on this beautiful day.

Patriotism

Today is a day to think back on the terrible day 11 years ago - and to remember all of the people that lost their lives that day.

Hangin' Out

Another beautiful September day (cool temps, blue skies) a nice day to hang out at Compo Beach.

Apples?

Today the sky was a gorgeous clear blue - the air was cool and clear - almost

 fall-like.  A wonderful day for bike-riding at the beach.

Mini At The Beach

The winds were gusty at the beach today!  It was so windy that the sand stung your legs as you were walking on the beach.  The wind surfers were having a great time!

Storm Cloud

A late afternoon storm cloud rolled in to mar the otherwise beautiful September day - cutting short my afternoon kayak outing.

Fishing Boats

The fishing boats were out today in Long Island Sound - I have noticed alot of oyster boats - is it oyster season?  A lovely day for kayaking or walking or riding bicycles at the beach today!

Magazines

Today, the weather alternated between sunshine and downpours - a good day for Sugar Plum to stay inside and get caught up on her stack of  September fashion magazines!

Cheery

A little touch of red cheers up a gray day - this stunning cardinal strikes a lovely pose for my camera.

Cloudy Day

Well, Labor Day turned out to be a little cloudy and pleasantly cool --- still, it was a very nice day to do a little kayaking.

Dramatic Driveway

The long pathway of pebbles and the sculptural quality of the trees and shrubbery give this driveway along Pequot Avenue in Southport a very beautiful and dramatic look.

September 1st and it's a perfect beach day - very hot and summer-like - great swimming weather!
