I can't believe it's the last day of August!  All is peaceful at Compo Mill Cove on a spectacular summer day.

Compo Kayaks

A colorful collection of kayaks stored at Compo Beach are ready to go out in the waves on a gorgeous late August day.

Flower Basket

What could be more charming than a colorful basket of flowers hung on a picket fence?  The weather today was spectacular - a perfect day for a walk at the beach and down to Compo Mill.

Homework On The Beach

It's that time of year again - time for school.  If you can do your homework on the beach - then it's not that bad!

Mantle

The elegant mantlepiece in the sitting room of the Farmhouse Bed and Breakfast - a lovely  1810 farmhouse in North Tisbury on Martha's Vineyard. I can't seem to get away from these  vacation pictures!

The Lake

On the West Side of New York's Central Park  -  the Lake is filled with boaters on a lovely summer afternoon.

Laduree

The charming and colorful Laduree is a well known French patisserie - now also located on Madison Avenue in New York.  One of their most popular goodies is the delicious macarons - with all of the delectable flavors - just try to choose one!

The Nantucket Lightship

Docked in Vineyard Haven, the dramatic Nantucket Lightship which was once stationed off Nantucket, has been purchased and renovated to be used as luxurious floating accommodations. 

Jeep

I love this jeep sitting in a driveway in Edgartown - it is a classic.  A quintessential scene of summer in Martha's Vineyard!

Menemsha

The little fishing village of Menemsha is always fun to visit - with cute shops, the freshest seafood and a lovely beach - you can't go wrong!

Aquinnah

Missing the beautiful ocean beaches at Martha's Vineyard - you just can't compare Long Island Sound with the Atlantic Ocean - oh well!

Farmer's Market

The West Tisbury Farmer's Market is held every Wednesday and Saturday at the Agricultural Hall in West Tisbury - you can find all kinds of island grown produce as well as flowers, meat, milk, honey - you name it!

Lambert's Cove

A stunning day high atop the dunes at Lambert's Cove Beach - the azure blue sky is reflected in the waters of the cove.

Mermaid Farm

The honesty farmstand at Mermaid Farm in Chilmark has all the ingredients you will need to prepare any feast!

Gay Head Light

Gay Head Lighthouse as seen from the walking path - coming back from the beach  after a lovely afternoon of swimming.

Edgartown Flowers

Back home and of course I'll still be thinking only of  Martha's Vineyard for a few days.  I took so many beautiful pictures that I'll be posting them for  many days to come!

It's time to say good-bye to Martha's Vineyard - so after a very nice vacation - it's time to board the 'Sankaty' and head back to Woods Hole and then drive back to Westport.  While on the ferry we had some wonderful views of the Black Dog tall ship - the Alabama.

Lambert's Cove Beach is a beautiful spot that I visited for the first time this year.  You walk down a long sandy path through the woods to find this spectacular beach which is surrounded by dunes and ancient forests.

A ferry ride over to Chappaquiddick proved to be a little disappointing this year - because of the intense currents and shifting sand - the beaches were closed to swimming.  We did enjoy the natural beauty of the beach - which almost felt like it was in South Africa.
