On a gray day - a sailing yacht passes Westport from a distance - in the middle of Long Island Sound.

Seahorse

A little seahorse perched on a wall by the beach - looks like it may dive right in the water and swim away.

Art Show

The sign is up for the annual art show at Old Mill Beach - unfortunately I will be away this year.  Last year's show was rained out with a hurricane. Just looking at the adorable sign will have to be enough for me this year.

Fiat At The Beach

Someone brought their cute little new Fiat to Connecticut for the weekend - I hope the weather is more cooperative tomorrow.  This morning started out nice - but showers took over for the afternoon and remained all evening.

Ooohhhh...

On an extremely hot afternoon I took a stroll at Old Mill Beach and along Compo Cove - this colorful garden was breathtaking.  So many varieties of flowers combined to make a stunning display.

Still Life

All was still today - and it was a beautiful day - until  strong thunderstorms rolled through this evening. 

Summer Days......

A stunning summer day - one of those 'top ten of the summer'.  I had to spend the entire day by the shore..........walking, kayaking, and swimming!

A Nice Shady Spot

It's quite hot  today - I hope we're not starting another heatwave.  A good place to be this afternoon is in this lovely shady spot overlooking Compo Cove.

More Vibes

Just remembering the fun I had yesterday at the Gathering of the Vibes.  The Vibes is a 4 day concert experience modeled after Woodstock and situated at Seaside Park in Bridgeport, which is a beautiful park located on Long Island Sound.  Many people came from far and wide - some camped out for the weekend - I just went for one day and had a great time!

The Avett Brothers

The Avett Brothers closed out the Gathering of the Vibes at Seaside Park in Bridgeport Connecticut tonight.  They played some old and some new songs - they were fantastic! 

Art Show

It was a spectacular day for the Downtown Westport Art Show - with much cooler temperatures than in years past.  Strolling along the river admiring the  work of the varied exhibiting artists was a pleasant way to spend the afternoon.

Rainy Day

 Rain was coming down all day long  - it was beneficial to the gardens in town - including this beautiful one on Bluewater Hill.

Welcome Clouds

Today the entire Northeast welcomed a cloudy day - temperatures in the 70's are so much more comfortable than the humid 90's.  Burying Hill Beach was almost deserted - but very pleasant!

Queen Anne's Lace

The heatwave was finally broken today with thunderstorms mid-afternoon. To get a breath of air - you had to get out early this morning for a stroll at the beach where the wildflowers are blooming. 

Chevrolet

A classic Chevrolet pickup truck awaits a spin around town in a Bluewater Hill driveway.  I'm not sure what year this one is - but it's vintage!

Summer Days

It was another gorgeous summer day - I spent a lovely morning kayaking and then taking a swim at the beach. 

Greenwich Backyard

A lovely garden and pool area grace a backyard in Greenwich - this morning started out beautifully, however, later in the afternoon a strong thunderstorm rolled through cooling the day off.

Summer Evening

Today was a typical hot summer day and the beach was a great place to go in the evening.  It was cool enough to take a walk after the sun went down!

Daisies

A healthy looking patch of daisies - the patch in my garden was sort of trampled by the painters who finished up today - oh well, the house looks better anyway.  I'll have to shop for some flowers for my garden this weekend - I have been admiring Queen Anne's Lace which is also blooming around town.

Catch A Breeze

Another hot, sunny summer day - there was a wonderful cool breeze to catch at Rocky Point in Rowayton.

The Walled Garden

Designed by Frederick Law Olmstead, the Walled Garden at Waveny House in New Canaan has been beautifully restored to it's original pristine state. Waveny House is a glorious mansion built in the early 1900's and given to the town of New Canaan in the 1960's. 

Lilypads

I pass a pond in Wilton that is covered in lilypads - today I stopped to take a closer look and they are amazing.  I could hear the occasional 'croak' and splash of the resident bullfrogs as I was taking my photos.

Knitting

Someone has been decorating trees and signs with colorful knitted scarves around downtown Westport lately.

Compo Beach

Today was one of the top ten days of summer - gorgeous weather.........

........ a great beach day!

Lacecap

A deep blue Lacecap hydrangea - a perfect specimen!  I came upon this gorgeous one while strolling in Southport.

Porch

A beautiful old-fashioned porch is a great place to try to beat the heat during our latest heat wave of the summer.

Summer Flowers

I love this color combination - bright yellow daylilies against the deep indigo clematis vine - stunning!

Fourth Of July!

Main Street USA on the 4th of July - actually Pequot Avenue in Southport - a slice of Americana.

Yachting

Southport Harbor is looking very festive in preparation for the 4th - the yachts are gleaming and the flags are flying!

The Reservoir

The El Dorado apartments on Central Park West are a familiar landmark - looking across the Reservoir from the Upper East Side of Manhattan.

Shady Spot

A pleasant spot to take shelter from the heatwave - along Soundview Drive. The sea breezes help keep the temperature down - at the beach.
