Snow In October?

The leaves haven't even fallen off the trees yet - but as of 3:00 this afternoon we already have 3 inches of snow on the ground - and it's still snowing!

Newman - Poses Preserve

The Newman - Poses preserve is a wonderful plot of land in Westport set aside for the enjoyment of all nature lovers. You can stroll through meadows and  forests, past ancient stone walls and alongside the Aspetuck River - very enjoyable on a brisk autumn afternoon.

My favorite pink house has a fresh coat of paint - a little lighter - just the shade to match the VW Beetle that is usually parked out front.

Well....Halloween is less than a week away - so it's time to get into the Halloween spirit.  This little group looks like they're very much in the Halloween spirit!

The late afternoon rays shine through the maple trees on John Read Road in Redding - casting a glorious golden hue.

A special day every fall is a day spent at Warrup's Farm in Redding. It's so much fun to wander around the farm, see the animals, walk down the dirt road and find the perfect pumpkin - what a day!

This vibrantly colored store in Herald Square across from Macy's will stop anyone in their tracks to take notice. 

An Autumn Stroll

Irwin Park in New Canaan is a marvelous place to go for a stroll on a brisk autumn day. There are meticulously tended paths meandering all over the beautiful property - which was once a majestic estate.

Dovecote

Dovecote is a wonderful home decorating shop in Westport - they have all kinds of beautiful, unique items.  They also have an entire room devoted to jewelry and it's just my style! 

The Old Mill

It was a beautiful day for a walk down to Old Mill Beach - the beach grass is showing it's autumn color with just a tinge of yellow.

Windy

It was too windy today to go kayaking - but these kite-surfers look like they're having a great time.

This adorable cottage directly alongside the Silvermine River looks like a charming place

to live.

Sometimes it's nice to have a rainy so you can spend time around the house - perhaps dusting.......the china cabinet.

Swan Song

It was another almost summer-like day -  a wonderful day to go kayaking among the swans. Hopefully this won't be the last warm day of the season

Columbus Day

With azure blue skies and temperatures right around 80 - it was a great day to have off - and maybe kayak up the Saugatuck!

Pine Point Pier

The old pier at Pine Point was at one time a ferry dock - now it is a good nesting place for various aquatic birds.

This very inviting stairway leading to a beautiful Victorian house in Bell Island - has enough color to last the entire season.

Monarchs

The Monarch butterflies have been everywhere I look for the past few days - especially near the beach. Maybe they're getting ready to fly south for the winter.

The Farmer's Market

It was a perfect day for going to the Farmer's Market.  I got all sorts of delicious fresh ingredients; tomatoes, cinnamon basil, golden beets and pea sprouts - all for a farm fresh dinner.  Next time I'll go at lunchtime - that curried chickpea salad looked delicious! 

Warm-Up

After a few cooler, rainy days - it was nice to see the sun return and get back to more summer-like activities.

Neighbors

Our friendly neighborhood deer have been making a lot of appearances this week - they've been helping us keep the shrubbery trimmed.

Outside

Sugar Plum is checking out the action outside on the deck - maybe some deer or turkeys will drop by to say hello.
